Latino Community Outreach

 

The Latino Community Outreach Program is designed to provide assistance to the Spanish speaking residents in the Dallas area.

Sergeant Robert Muñoz is the Latino Community Liaison Officer and the Unidos Coordinator. He serves as the liaison between the Hispanic Community and the Dallas Police Department with the intent to help bridge the gap between the Department and the Latino Community.

The Unidos Program and the Spanish Citizen's Police Academy were developed to provide valuable resources and information to the Hispanic Community. The main objective of the programs it to help promote safer communities and a better quality of life for all who live and work in our communities through education and empowerment.

Unidos

Unidos meetings are held during the year entirely in Spanish. The intent of the program is to act as a resource center for Spanish speaking residents and present information and provide assistance in areas of importance to the Latino Community. Each Patrol Division holds four quarterly meetings throughout the year and provides speakers regarding Immigration Law assistance, senior home health care services, taxes, census, city programs.

UNIDOS es un programa diseñado para proveer asistencia a la Comunidad Hispana en la Ciudad de Dallas. El Programa UNIDOS es organizado por el Departamento de Policía de Dallas y conduce juntas durante el año completamente en Español. El propósito del programa es de actuar como un Centro de Recursos para los residentes que hablan Español y proveer asistencia en áreas de importancia a la Comunidad Hispana.

Dallas Police Department Citizen Academy


The next Citizens Police Academy, Class #38 will be hosted by the Dallas Police Department, starting on Tuesday, February 17, 2015, and continuing thru April 25, 2015. The classes will meet every Tuesday. The hours will be from 6:30pm-8:30pm. The Citizens Police Academy will be held at 5610 Red Bird Center Dr. Ste. #300, Dallas, TX 75237 at the Dallas Police In-Service Police Academy.

If interested, please submit the Citizens Police Academy application prior to January 31, 2015.

  • To apply, you must be at least 21 years old;
  • Must have a form of valid identification, (Consular identification card, Texas I. D., Driver’s License, Etc.)
  • Must pass a background check.

The Citizen Police Academy is a revolutionary concept in Law Enforcement and police Community relations. More than a training program, the Dallas Police Departments Citizen Academy serves as a window of opportunity specifically designed to allow the public a hand-in hand guided tour in the world of local law enforcement service. Our main goal is not to train citizens to task. Rather our goal is to educate the citizens regarding the purpose the rationale and the context purpose. The Citizens Police Academy is a structured program of Police Community Relations which builds another bridge to open communications between the served and the servants. It is also used as a vehicle to communicate useful information to citizens regarding how to live their live safely in our current urban environment and how citizens can take action in coalition with local government to protect their neighborhoods.

Academia para Hispanos Policía De Dallas


La Academia de Ciudadanos Policía de Dallas próximo, clase #38 será organizada por el Departamento de Policía de Dallas, a partir de Martes, 17 de Febrero de 2015 y continuando a través de 25 de Abril de 2015. Las clases reunirán todos los martes. El horario será de 6:30pm-8:30pm La Academia de Policía Ciudadano está localizada en 5610 Red Bird Center Dr. Ste #300. Dallas, TX 75237.

  • Tiene que tener por los menos 21 años
  • Una forma de identificación (matricula consular, Texas I.D., licencia de manejar, etc.)

La academia de policía de ciudadanos hispanos es una introducción acerca de los deberes diarios de oficiales para mantener una ciudad más segura. Las clases se ofrecen en Español y consisten de una visión general del Departamento de Policía de Dallas. Los temas se tratan de las funciones de un oficial de la patrulla, el uso de la fuerza, la función de la Sección de la Asuntos Internos, unidades tácticas, y las investigaciones de delitos.Nuestro objetivo es darles un entendimiento general de la diversidad de nuestra profesión y como realizamos nuestros deberes. Por media de esta academia, queremos crear un ambiente de cooperación optima con la comunidad Hispana. La academia de policía de ciudadanos para Hispanos se reúne una vez a la semana por diez semanas consecutivas.
