P-TECH stands for Pathways in Technology Early College High School. DPD has partnered with Dallas ISD on 3 designated P-TECH campuses for the Criminal Justice Pathway.

Students have the potential to earn up to 60 credit hours or an associate degree in four to six years, along with industry certificates for their selected career pathway — opportunities that can potentially lead to paid internships and job placement after graduation all while pursuing their high school diploma. Best of all, this opportunity comes tuition-free.

How can apply for P-Tech early college?

• The P-TECH/ECHS/Collegiate Academies are designed to serve incoming ninth grade students who have the determination to attend college, are first-generation college students, and have been historically underrepresented in higher education.
  
  
• Each campus will accept 125 ninth grade students per year, but some may have fewer – we recommend checking with the campus you are interested in. Interested eighth graders who will be freshmen in the fall can apply here.
  

DPD P-Tech Mission

The mission of the Dallas Police Department's Pathways Program is to attract quality applicants to the Dallas Police Department. The goal is to maintain a working relationship with the Pathway Student while they reach the necessary educational milestones required to become a Dallas Police Officer.

• High school students in their final semester are eligible to apply for paid internships with DPD.
• Students must maintain a minimum of a 2.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale in both high school and secondary education.
• Pathway Students must submit their transcript at the conclusion of each semester to the Pathways Coordinator.
• Once the Pathway Student reaches the number of required hours, they will begin the application process to become a police officer.
  
• The Pathway Student will participate in the program up until the time they are aged 19 ½ and have 60 semester hours of college credit or if they are age 21 and have 45 semester college hours.
