File A Complaint Against an Employee
Note, this portion of the website is only for filing a complaint against an employee(s) of the Dallas Police Department. If you have a criminal matter to report which does not involve a departmental employee, you may dial *911, use the
Dallas Online Reporting System (DORS) to submit an online police report, or consult the Department Directory for a detailed listing of telephone numbers.
On October 1, 2019, the Office of Community Police Oversight Board was given responsibility of providing an accessible process that ensures fair acceptance and processing of external administrative complaints.
The Police Department's goal is to make this process available to all persons who believe they have been aggrieved during an interaction with an employee of the Dallas Police Department. A formal complaint may be made in one of several ways:
A summary of how to file a complaint and an overview of the process after a complaint has been submitted can be found by reading the How to File a Complaint.pdf or Como Presentar Una Queja.pdf

Racial Profiling Complaints
In 2001, the Texas Legislature passed a law prohibiting "Racial Profiling." Police Officers may not take any enforcement-initiating action based on an individuals race, ethnicity, or national origin rather than on the individual's behavior or on information identifying the individual as having engaged in criminal activity.
"Racial Profiling" by officers is strictly prohibited by the Dallas Police Department. Complaints alleging "Racial Profiling" are accepted and investigated in the same manner as other complaints.
