Requirements to view or remove personal property from an impounded vehicle: -
Must possess government issued identification.

Be the registered owner, have a signed title, or be listed as the driver when the vehicle was impounded.

If none of the above apply, then must have an "Authorization to Release" which has been properly filled out and notarized.

TRAFFIC ACCIDENT INFORMATION: -
Drivers of motor vehicles involved in an accident are required to exchange names, addresses, vehicle registration numbers, and names of their respective motor vehicle liability insurers.

If a police report is made, simply follow the instructions above. Accident reports are handwritten and there may be a delay of a few days in obtaining a copy.

The Dallas Police Department does not normally file charges on vehicle accidents resulting in property damages only unless the officer witnessed the accident.
