Criminal Intelligence Unit

The Criminal Intelligence Unit functions to collect, store, assess, and disseminate criminal intelligence information using established criteria that provides for the legitimate needs of law enforcement. We gather intelligence for the purpose of identifying criminal patterns or trend development, identification of suspects and criminal enterprises, and to identify officer safety issues.

Joint Terrorism Task Force

It is the Joint Terrorism Task Force's responsibility to investigate and prevent actual or potential acts of terrorism occurring in or affecting Dallas. Joint Terrorism Task Force detectives are assigned to the Joint Terrorism Task Force, which consists of local, state, and federal agencies.  Citizens should contact the Joint Terrorism Task Force when they have information on individuals or groups who plan, threaten, finance, attempt, or perform acts of terrorism.    

Theft Task Force

The Major Offenders/Interstate Theft Task Force identifies and investigates individuals and groups who engage in major property crimes such as thefts from interstate shipments. Citizens with information on these crimes should contact the Theft Task Force.

Dignitary Protection Squad

This Squad is responsible for Dignitary Protection and is the Foreign Consulate Liaison. The Squad investigates threats against officers and elected officials. It monitors incidents of significant public disorder and serves as a liaison with activist groups.

Crime Stoppers

The Crime Stoppers Squad receives, distributes, and records caller information (tips) and constructs “reward packets” for eligible callers. This squad is responsible for the weekly “wanted poster” featured in the newspaper and the  “Crime of the Week” segments that air on television.
