Dedication Ceremony
After years of planning and building, the Dallas Police Department held the Jack Evans Police Headquarters Dedication Ceremony on June 3, 2003. Many City Officials along with hundreds of other guests attended to celebrate the event.
The program began with a musical prelude by the Dallas Police Bag Pipe & Drum Corp. The Presentation of Colors was done by the Dallas Police Tactical Division. Choir Director Joel Soto lead the Dallas First Church Sanctuary Choir in the Pledge of Allegiance & National Anthem. The invocation was by Dr. Tony Evans, Sr., of the Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship.
The opening remarks were given by Master of Ceremony Mr. Mark Willis followed by the recognition of special guests. Speakers were the honorable Laura Miller, Mayor of Dallas and Chief of Police Terrell Bolton. A special presentation was given to the Evans family. The Key-note address was given by Dr. Beverly Kerl Mitchell-Brooks of the Dallas Urban League. Community remarks were given by Mr. Garry Castro, Chairmen, Greater Dallas Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Leadership Institute followed by the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony.
All guests adjourned into the headquarters for a luncheon. Musical Interludes were performed by the Dallas Police Choir. The presentation of Special Recognition Plaques were given by Chief Terrell Bolton, with concluding remarks by the Master of Ceremonies. The benediction was given by Reverend Tom Foster of the Dallas First Church.
