The Crimes Against Children Unit (CACU) is a specialized unit committed to the investigation of child abuse (both physical and sexual), sexual exploitation of children, and child sex trafficking offenses of victims under the age of 18.  Also, the unit investigates crimes that are facilitated by the internet to include child pornography and online solicitation of minors.  Detectives conduct proactive and reactive investigations to protect children and provide training and education to the community in this area. 

The Crimes Against Children Unit is committed to the safety of children in our community and their healing by working with the Dallas Children's Advocacy Center, Child Protective Services of the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, Traffick911, and partner agencies.

The Crimes Against Children Unit is comprised of:
  • Child Abuse Squad
  • Child Exploitation Squad
  • Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Squad
  • High-Risk Victims Trafficking (HRVT) Squad
  • Sex Offender Registration Squad/Sex Offender Apprehension Program (SOAP)
