Founded in 1881, the Dallas Police Department is the second largest police department in the State of Texas. We are also the ninth largest police department in the country, comprised of more than 3,100 officers and 600 professional staff members. The Dallas Police Department provides police services to more than 1.3 million residents in a city occupying 385 square miles, and we are dedicated to recruiting, hiring, and training a highly skilled and qualified organization that reflects the diversity of the communities we serve.
