The Dallas Police Department recognizes the importance of involving the community to help combat crime and increase the quality of police service through partnership. The core of partnership is communication, cooperation, and education. Citizens involved in activities such as crime watch groups and city programs help support the overall effectiveness of the Dallas Police Department. Neighborhood Police Officers (NPOs) of the Dallas Police Department will support all citizens involved in crime prevention, crime watch groups, and other volunteer programs. The Neighborhood Police Officer Unit falls under the Community Operations Division.
